WILLIAM "CORKEY" CLARK HUNT

William Clark (Corkey) Hunt was born July 2, 1937 in Hayti, MO. He passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2022, in Hayti, MO. He was 84 years, 9 months, and 17 days of age.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara (Smith) Hunt, parents, William and Elizabeth (Nave) Hunt, great granddaughter, Annistyn Rackley, and great grandson, Joe Carter Hall.

Corkey was united in marriage to the late Barbara Smith Hunt in Caruthersville, MO., on December 14, 1957. Together they owned and operated Curtis’s Café and Hunts Truck repair in Hayti for many years. He also was an owner operator and drove over the road for many years. In his later years, he worked for the Caruthersville Cotton Gin driving a truck hauling cotton modules from the field back to the gin. Corkey’s biggest hobby after his retirement was working in his yard. He enjoyed hanging out at Sullivans and with Lonnie, kids, and friends at the trucking office. Corkey also enjoyed going to concerts and spending time with his special friend Ms. Brenda Hunt.

He leaves the following to cherish his memory: 3 sons, Danny (Brenda) Hunt of Longview, TX., Kenneth Hunt of Caruthersville MO., Lonnie (Karen) Hunt of Hayti, and daughter, Tammy Hall of Hayti. 2 Sisters, Nedra (Doug) Irvin of Bragg City, MO. Betty Ann (Bill) Koval of Decatur AL., 3 Brothers, Kenneth Wayne Portlock of Tampa, FL., John Richard (Barbara) Hunt of Punta Gorda, FL., and Michael Edward Hunt of Henderson, TX. Grandchildren: Meghan (Trey) Rackley, Colt Hunt, Trey (Jessica) Anderson, Leah Hunt, Destiny Ayers, Heath (Alexis) Hunt, Steve (Kristi) Hall, Derek (Marlena) Hall, and Hayla (Brian) Teal. And a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Graveside Memorial Services were held Sunday, April 24, 2022, at 2:30 P.M.; in Woodlawn Cemetery in Hayti, with Brother Doug Wahls Officiating.
