MARGARET JEAN (MAMA JEAN) ABERNETHY MOUHALIS

Margaret Jean (Mama Jean) Abernethy Mouhalis of Hayti went home to be with her Lord on Thursday evening, May 17, 2018 at the age of 91.

Jean was born on September 14, 1926, graduated from Caruthersville High School in 1944 and married Angelo on May 27, 1946.She dedicated her adult life to her husband, children, friends, church, and sorority. She was an avid reader, a creator of magnificent handworks, and a leader of children and scouting organizations.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Monroe and Annie Pearl Abernethy, her husband, Angelo Jr., son, Angelo III “Buzzy”, brothers, Jack Carroll and Don Abernethy, sister, Faye Merrell, and great-granddaughter, Nona Douglas.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, sons Jeffrey (Laura) and Timothy (Michelle), daughters Angelee Brooks and Susan Reich, sisters, Mary Lynn Robertson and Ann White (Lavanda) and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and friends.

Jean’s life was celebrated at Hayti First Baptist Church on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Hayti, under the direction of John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti
