JOE WAYNE DARNELL

Joe Wayne Darnell was born March 1, 1948 in Braggadocio. He was the son of the late Curtis C. Darnell and Lula Mae Lampley Darnell.

He departed from this life on March 22, 2018 at his home in Braggadocio at the age of 70.

He attended the Braggadocio schools and graduated from Deering High School.

His interests included cooking, reading and watching westerns, dancing and watching television in general. He always had the remote very accessible as well.

He had many friends locally as well as in the Cape Girardeau area.

Joe worked as a restaurant manager for many years. He was very successful because of his personality and his ability to be such a big cut up.

He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother-Danny Ray Darnell, and a sister-Claydene Darnell.

He is survived by one son, Joe Wayne Darnell Jr. (Haza), Angie Emanie, who he raised like a daughter, a brother, Curtis Darnell Jr. (Rubenia), three sisters, Doris Pearson, Mary Cannon (Glenn), Alice Cobb, a grandson and granddaughter, Tavus and Janel Darnell.

The family would like to thank Dr. Arshad, the Pemiscot Memorial Hospital staff, the cardiac care unit at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau and the Fresenius Kidney Care staff in Kennett where he received dialysis treatments.

Graveside services were held Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in Maple Cemetery with Pastor Bill Ivy officiating.
