JOEY CECIL RIGGS

Joey Cecil Riggs was born November 13, 1950 in Kennett, Missouri. He was the son of the late Cecil Riggs and Juanita Autry Riggs.

He departed this life at the Tennova Heath System in Dyersburg on March 7, 2018. He was 67 years old.

On February 1, 1969 at the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Deering, he was united in marriage to Doris Adams. This year they celebrated 49 years of marriage.

Joey was an excellent carpenter who worked throughout his life building many of the homes in Caruthersville and in the area. His work was sought after by many and he loved working on the job until his death. If he wasn’t working, he was out riding through the county with Doris or enjoying the grandchildren and great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Mitchell Riggs, and a sister Joanne McGraw.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Riggs of Caruthersville, three sons, Chris Riggs (Kristy) of Caruthersville, Kevin Riggs of Caruthersville, and Adam Riggs (Nikki) of Caruthersville, a brother, Gary Riggs of Caruthersville, a sister, Anita Cain of Caruthersville, 7 grandchildren, Allison, Sara, Tatum, Brandon, Sam, Lauren, and Ford Riggs, one great-grandson, Brantley Looney, other relatives, and many friends.

Graveside services were held March 8 at 10:00 a.m. at Maple Cemetery with Rev. Kenny Lee officiating.
