FLORA ALMEDA ALEXANDER

Flora Almeda Alexander, 95, went to meet her Lord and Savior after a brief illness on Friday, January 19, 2018 in Monticello, Arkansas. Almeda was born in Dardenelle, Arkansas on June 16, 1922 to Lara Stanley Tilmon and Allie Iona Hames. Her siblings-Faye, Rena Love, Fern, and Hames all preceded her in death.

Upon graduating from Braggadocio (Missouri) High School, Almeda earned her cosmetology license in Blytheville. She married Richard Millison Alexander on March 14, 1948. Married until his passing in 2005, they had three sons, Ricky, Keith and Wayne. She was a devoted and godly mother, who faithfully served for many years as a Sunday School teacher at the First Baptist Church of Hayti, where she was a member for 70 years.

Almeda also was known for her strength of character, her willingness to speak truth and for the care she generously shared with family and friends.

Almeda was preceded in death by her infant son, Ricky, by her husband, Richard, by her parents, Lara and Allie, her nephews,Sonny and Johnny. She is survived by her sons, Keith (Jean) and Wayne (Rita), her grandchildren, Brad, Brian, Michelle, Kody, and Chance, her great-grandchildren, MacKenzie and Mary, her nieces, Pam, Nancy, Diane, Deitra Kay, Roxanne, Beth, Robin, Marsha, and Jane, her nephews, Raymond, Steve, Don, Mark, Richard, Sammy, and Tommy, and many beloved cousins and great nieces and great nephews.

Visitation and celebration of life service was held on Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Hayti with Dr. Phill Hall officiating. Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Hayti. Pallbearers were Brad Alexander, Brian Alexander, Kody Alexander, Chance Alexander, Mark Dawson, and Sonny Thompson.
