The New Madrid Eagles brought only their varsity for the game Thursday evening. The Lady Tigers were ready to keep the Eagles grounded. The visiting NMCC Eagles started the first game of the set, but the Lady Tigers quickly took over and scored 5 points on the Eagles before they knew what hit them. Shaken, but not out, the Eagles returned the favor and scored 5 points on the Tigers. The battle was on, but the Tigers were not giving the Eagles any room to fly, keeping the score close. Each team blocking, passing, and setting. Not allowing the other team to gain too much advantage. Finally, the Lady Tigers built a slight lead, pulled ahead, and stayed ahead to take the first game by a score of 25-20.

The second game started off with the same battle style as game one; blocks, volleys, setting and passing defensively by both sides. The Lady Eagles pulled ahead slightly and looked to try to edge out the Tigers. The Tigers were not ready to call it quits and ramped up their defenses, taking a series of points to take the lead from NMCC. Both teams played the ball defensively, balls off the net, blocks, kills, digs, assists. The battle was on. Just like in game one, the Tigers took the lead near the end and stayed there, taking the second game and the set by a score of 25-20.

When asked about the team and the season so far and the upcoming tournament, Coach McCall said, “We are pretty young so I’m very excited to see how we finish up the season. Our senior leadership of Hannah Vaughn stands out throughout. This group has great chemistry when they communicate.”
