Sept. 13 - At 11:59 p.m. officers conducted a traffic stop on North Highway J and Meadow Lane for a defective equipment violation. As a result of the stop a passenger in the vehicle was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. He was processed and incarcerated in the Justice Center awaiting formal charges from the State Prosecutor’s Office.

Sept. 14 - Formal charges were filed on Tommy Collins, 47, of Wardell for possession of a controlled substance except 35 grams or less of marijuana. The warrant carried a bond of $2,500 cash or surety.

Sept. 13 - The Hayti Police Department, Pemiscot County Sheriff’s Department, Caruthersville Police Department, and ATF served a search warrant in the 300 Block of East Jackson Street. The search warrant was issued in connection to a burglary investigation being conducted by the Hayti Police Department. As a result of the search warrant formal charges of possession of a controlled substance except 35 grams or less of marijuana (class D felony), endangering the welfare of a child (class D felony), unlawful use of a weapon, and felony possession of a controlled substance (class E felony) were filed on Thomas E. Hightower of Hayti. The warrant carried a bond of $100,000 cash or surety.

Officers also arrested Mahaly Rachel Ross, who was charged with possession of controlled substance except 35 grams or less of marijuana (class D felony), endangering the welfare of a child (class D felony), unlawful use of a weapon (class E felony), and felony controlled substance. This warrant carried a bond of $50,000 cash or surety.

Officers arrested Jason D. Jones of Hayti Heights, later formally charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, child endangerment, and unlawful use of a weapon while possessing a controlled substance. Jones was issued a criminal summons to appear at a later date.

During the search warrant officers recovered controlled substances cocaine and marijuana and two weapons. Officers and DFS removed nine small children from the residence as well.

A Hayti officer was injured after being bit by a pit bull dog, officers on scene euthanized the animal and later had it checked for rabies. The test results were negative. The officer received treatment at Pemiscot Memorial Hospital and returned to work the next day. Chief Sheckell would like to thank the Sheriff’s Department, Caruthersville Police Department, ATF and the Division of Family Services for their assistance in this investigation.

Sept. 20 - The County Prosecutor’s Office filed formal charges on Marcus E. Feltus of Hayti in connection to a case that occurred in Hayti. Feltus is charged with second degree burglary (class D felony), arson third degree (a class A misdemeanor), resisting arrest ( a class E felony), tampering with a motor vehicle ( a class D felony) and first degree property damage ( a class E felony). The warrant carries a cash only bond of $50,000. As of this press release Feltus remains in the Justice Center. The County Sheriff’s Department, Caruthersville Police Department, and Missouri State Highway patrol assisted Hayti Police Department with this investigation.

Sept. 21 - Officers arrested Kimberly S. Gilmore, 26, of Hayti on an outstanding warrant for stealing. Gilmore was processed and transported to the Justice Center and held on a $1000 cash only bond through Pemiscot county.
