The Lady Tiger tennis team started off the season with two home games at the Diane Sayre Recreation Center. The Lady Tigers started off the season against some very tough teams and struggled to make much headway against two very good schools: Kennett and Notre Dame. The Tigers are coached by new head coach Wayne Smith and returning Assistant Coach Sarah Sanders.

This year’s Lady Tigers are made up mostly of underclassmen. Only two seniors return to the team; Katelyn Akins and Kristen Akins. On Tuesday, Caruthersville faced a defensive Kennett team. Two Tiger matches were won against Kennett and a tie breaker in a doubles match did not go in the Tigers favor, disappointing the Tiger seniors on their first double match of the season.

On Thursday, the Lady Tigers took on Notre Dame. Even though no matches were won, the Lady Tigers gave a good effort and kept several matches very close. Coach Sanders expects the team to improve as the season progresses and the younger girls gain much needed experience.
