Aug. 18 - At approximately 9:30 a.m. officers were dispatched to a local business in reference to theft from a a machine by two suspects. Officers responded and upon speaking with management they reviewed the video surveillance. Officers were familiar with the suspects and the suspects were both from the local area. Officers submitted the cases to the Prosecutor’s Office.

Aug. 24 - At approximately 12 p.m. the county Sheriff’s Department located and arrested Faith H. Babcock, 42, of Caruthersville. Babcock has one count of stealing over $750 (class D felony). Babcock has a bond of $25,000 cash or surety and is currently incarcerated at the Justice Center. The second suspect, identified as James “Brandon” Fields, 41, of Caruthersville was also charged with stealing over $750 (class D felony). At this time Fields has not been located.

Aug. 24 - At 5:45 p.m. during Hayti municipal court, officers arrested Robert L. Brown, 36, of Hayti on a signed complaint for an assault that had taken place at Booker T’s on August 14 at 11:00 p.m. Brown was processed and released after posting a bond of $186. He is scheduled to appear in municipal court.

Aug. 24 - At approximately 1:05 a.m. officers responded to the 400 Block of North Pemiscot in reference to an assault taking place. Upon arrival the suspects had fled the scene, but officers spoke with two victims. One victim was assaulted in the 400 Block of North Pemiscot and the other victim had been raped in the 500 Block of West Grant. Officers along with the Sheriff’s Department attempted to locate a female, 22, for burglary and assault. The second suspect was a male, 31, of Hayti who was wanted for rape, two counts of assault, burglary, unlawful use of a weapon, and armed criminal action. Both suspects were not located, but the victims identified them. Officers filed the cases with the Prosecutor on August 24th, that afternoon. The Prosecutor’s Office formally charged Jackie K. Payne Jr. with rape (felony unclassified), two counts of assault 1st degree (class B felony), armed criminal action (felony unclassified), unlawful use of a weapon (class E felony), and burglary 1st degree (class B felony). Payne was taken into custody without incident and incarcerated in the Justice Center. The second suspect Laqueisha Green, 22, of Hayti was charged with burglary (class B felony), and assault third degree (class E felony). Green was also taken into custody without incident and is currently incarcerated in the Justice Center with a bond of $25,000 cash or surety.

Aug. 26 - At 9:45 p.m. officers were called to Hays Grocery in reference to a shoplifter. Upon arrival officers obtained a signed complaint against Kevin L. Oliver, 48, of Hayti for petty larceny after he was caught stealing $22.77 worth of meat. Oliver was arrested at Hays and then transported to the police department for processing. During processing, officers also learned that Oliver had a failure to appear warrant for his arrest out of Dunklin county for passing bad checks, with a cash only bond of $1000. He was transported to the Justice Center where he is being held on a $236 bond.
