Mathis Elementary at Hayti R-II would like to introduce teacher and staff for the upcoming school year. Each week we will spotlight different staff members.

The first introduction is Mrs. Kay Suddarth, the new principal at Mathis Elementary School. Kay is a native of Hayti. She graduated from Hayti High School in 1979 and then attended college at Murray State University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education in 1983. She received her Master’s in Elementary Administration in 2002. Kay taught in the Hayti R-II School District for 31 years before retiring in 2014. She has been working as a part-time reading teacher for the past three years. Kay is married to Darin Suddarth and they have three daughters: Kristan Swindle, Shea Clark and Caroline Suddarth. They also have one granddaughter, Olivia Kate Swindle. “Mathis Elementary is a wonderful school to work at,” Kay says. “The teachers and staff are top notch and they work as a team to make a difference in each and every student’s life.”
