ALLECIA TIPTON WHEELER

Allecia Tipton Wheeler was born August 27, 1921 in Chic, Tennessee. She was the daughter of Dr. Pleasant Corydon (P.C.) Tipton and Alice Wiseman Tipton.

She departed this life on July 21, at the Tennova Healthcare System in Dyersburg, Tennessee. She was 95 years old.

Allecia was married to Mr. W.C. Wheeler in February of 1940 in Hickman, Kentucky. They were married for 62 years before he preceded her in death in 2002.

Allecia was known for her sewing skills that included lots of hand work particularly doll clothes. She loved to fish, to work in her garden and cook. She did not have formal training as a nurse but she often went with her father to see patients and work as his nurse. She was an active member of the Finley Baptist Church for over 70 years where she taught the primary Sunday School class and the nursery class.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, P.C., Jack, and Paul Tipton and a sister, Cecilia Tipton Hughey.

She is survived by her daughter and her husband, Sheila and Bill McBride of Dyersburg, a granddaughter and her husband, Meredeth and Jacob McMackins of Finley, TN, a niece and her husband, Susan Tipton and Jere Bracey of Cordova, TN, and a nephew and his wife, Jack W. “Tip” and Karen Tipton of Cordova, TN.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 25 at 3:00 p.m. at the Finley Baptist Church with Rev Charles Halliburton and Brother Eddie Wilbanks officiating. Interment in Maple Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Jerry Brock, Derrioll Davidson, Danny Joe Pritchett, Dusty Pritchett, Joe Smith, and Jimmy Wells.

The family request that memorials be given to Ronald McDonald House.
