Loyd Daniel Rorie

Loyd Daniel Rorie, 76, of Caruthersville, Mo., passed away Thursday, June 1, 2017, in Hayti, Mo. He was born March 30, 1941, to the late James Leslie Rorie and Velma Burcham Rorie in Rielnzi, Miss. He was united in marriage to Martha Phelps in Caruthersville on Jan. 14, 1967. He was self employed as a truck driver for many years. Later, before his retirement, he drove for Tennessee Steel Haulers.

Mr. Rorie was preceded in death by his parents, James Leslie Rorie and Velma Burcham Rorie.

Survivors of Mr. Rorie include his wife, Martha Rorie of Caruthersville; two sons, Paul Plummer of Caruthersville and Loyd Rorie II of Montgomery, Ala.; one daughter Amanda Rorie and Robert Young of Holland, Mo; one brother, Larry Rorie and Deloris of Steele; one sister, Betty Bolin and Paul of Springfield, Mo., and one grandson, Macklin Kash Young of Holland.

Funeral services for Mr. Rorie were held at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 4 at Powell Funeral Home with Rev. Jeremy Damesworth officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, June 3. Pallbearers were Brad Brown, Brett Brown, B.J. Brown, Robert Rayburn, Jim Forbus and Tyler Thornton.

Powell Funeral Home of Steele was in charge of arrangements.
