Vada Blagg, 90, of Steele, Mo., was born March 8, 1927, in Waynesboro, Tenn., to the late Jack and Lena Green Long. At one time in her life, she was very well-known in the community for helping with 18 children, making sure they had shelter, clothing and food until they could be back on their own.

Mrs. Blagg was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Lena Long.

Survivors of Mrs. Blagg include her children, Dr. Wayne Stevens (Grace) of Holcomb, Mo., Diana Porter (Wayne) and Shelia Richardson (Keith Warren); six granddaughters, Penny and Lee Kirby and family, April Taylor and family, Heather Holt and Paul Lyell and family, Raven and Ladon Glidewell and family, Nicki and Chris Buttery and family and Shelby and Brandon Busby and family; three grandsons, Roger Blagg, Stephen Holt (Amanda) and Coda Jumper; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; many friends and a very special friend, Bobby Owens.

Funeral services for Mrs. Blagg were held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 26 at John W. German Funeral Home in Steele with Bro. Cecil Riley officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele. Pallbearers were Keith Warren, Bobby Jumper, Michael Tomlinson, Coda Jumper, Draven Glidewell and Eric Davis. Honorary pallbearers were Billy Joe Stanfield, Randy Trimm and Alan Pierce. Bro. Brent Pierce read a poem.

John W. German Funeral Home of Steele was in charge of arrangements.
