Before the storms arrived, Caruthersville, South Pemiscot and Doniphan met in competition early in the week and headed into the district tournament with the Caruthersville Tigers on a winning streak. Monday the Tigers took on South Pemiscot in a two-pitcher shut out as the Tigers took the game 5-0. Tuesday, the Tigers took on Doniphan and handily won 11-1. These wins allowed the Tigers to head into the Bootheel Conference in first place, earning a bye for the start of the tournament.

On Monday, Caruthersville Sophomore pitcher, Christian Dudley finished off the game giving Senior pitcher, Taylor Moses the win. Moses pitched 6 1/3 innings, surrendering no runs, only two hits and struck out eight batters. The Tigers really put on a show in the sixth, starting off with a walk from Tanner Cobb followed by a single by Seth Faulkner. What followed was three runs in this inning putting an exclamation point on the Tiger lead. South Pemiscot made attempts to challenge the Tiger bats by making getting two batters on base, but were unable to capitalize on the hits. Three doubles between Landon Hampton and Logan Medlin, as well as hits by Seth Faulkner and Blake Irons made a difference that South Pem. could not compete with. Unfortunately, South Pem. was overcome by the efficient play of the Tigers falling by a score of 5-0 in favor of the Tigers.

Coach Haddon stated, "This was a big win for our team. Every game is important, but anytime you play for a championship, the game obviously means a little more. Taylor Moses did a great job on the mound and really kept us in the game while we struggled hitting early in the game. I loved the way our boys showed up and competed from start to finish and it's nice to be rewarded by winning the regular season conference title."

Tuesdays game against Doniphan only added to the Tigers confidence as they head into tournament play on Saturday. Tuesday, the Tiger bats woke up early and stayed steady as they pelted the Doniphan team 11-1. The first inning saw a leadoff walk and a double which earned Blake Irons a RBI. In the third inning stolen bases and continued strong batting enlarged the Tiger lead. Notable mentions were stolen bases by both Bryce Strawn (4) and Seth Falkner (3) as well as strong pitching by sophomore Christina Dudley. Dudley only allowed six hits, no runs, walked one, and struck out five in his four innings of pitching.

Coach Haddon was pleased with the final game before tournament saying, "I thought we had great overall effort. We hit the ball well, played good defense, and pitched the baseball very well. Anytime you are able to execute those three phases of the game, you have to like your chances. We were also pretty aggressive on the bases and were able to cause them to make a few mistakes that we were able to capitalize on."

Caruthersville will host the Bootheel Conference. Conference play is scheduled for April 29-May 2 at VFW field.
