Clotie I. Maxwell Williams, of Hayti, Missouri died Monday, April 3, 2017 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee after a long battle with kidney disease.

Clotie was born to the union of Amos and Annie Maxwell in Pascola, Missouri. Both parents preceded her in death. She was the tenth of eleven children.

Clotie confessed a belief in Christ at the age of seven and joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Earl, AR, in 1939. Clotie completed her education in the public school system in Missouri and graduated from Central High School in 1954. After graduating she moved to Chicago, IL, where she met the love of her life, Rev. Herbert W. Williams. Clotie and Herbert united in holy matrimony in 1957. In 1962 they became active members of True Foundation M.B.C. Church where they remained until his death in 1998. Mrs. Clotie helped raise two daughters, Francine and Claressa Williams.

Mrs. Clotie retired from the Drake Motel in downtown Chicago at the age of 67, after 25 years of service. She moved to Hayti, MO in 2011 to live with her nieces, Kay and Button and became the love of their lives.

Clotie was preceded in death by all of her siblings, and now leaves to mourn a large host of nieces and nephews who will forever love and miss this dear one we call Aunt T.

Memorial services were held Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti, with Rev. Larry Guyton officiating. Pallbearers were Freddie Harper, Jessie Jones, Richard Williams, Bryant Rose, Kalvin Booker, Brittian Booker, and Micah Rose.
