SHIRLEY SMITH  BURKEEN

Shirley (Smith) Burkeen, 80, was born April 9, 1942 in Potosi, MO to Louis Wesley Smith and Hattie Moss Smith. Shirley lived near Potosi, MO in a place referred to as Tiff Diggins, near Rabbit Holler. She passed from this life on April 28, 2022 in Cordell, OK. She married Roy Burkeen.

She is survived by Kenneth Gregory of Cordell, OK, five daughters, Karen White of Cordell, Dennie and Gary Frank of Cordell, Gail Chester of Dill City, OK, Christy and Jon Hiebert of Cordell and Roblyn and Erica Burkeen of Smithville, TX, one step son, Dale Burkeen of Hayti, MO, one son in law, Trey Lawson of Cordell, one sister, Virginia and Jimmy Smith of Cadet, MO, 26 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Hattie, her husband, Roy Burkeen, two stepsons, Steven and Richard Burkeen, one sister in law, Al White , one grandson, James Hennings, four brothers and three sisters.

Services were held Tuesday, April 3 at Brimhall Funeral Home in Hayti, MO with Bro. Dale Burkeen officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Hayti. Pallbearers were Kenny Gregory, Gary Frank, Steven White, Trey Lawson, Austin Burkeen and Frank “Bub” Perkins. Honorary pallbearers were Al White, Jon Hiebert, Derrick Megli, Chad Walters, Jesse Gregory, James Hennings, Steven Burkeen, Jeret Terry, Christopher Walters, Travis Gregory, Steve Burkeen, Danny White, Brett Terry, Curtis Walters, and Gunar Frank.
