CLOVIE FERRELL DUNAVANT

Clovie Ferrell Dunavant was born March 6, 1924 at 14 Bend on Black Island near Caruthersville. She was the daughter of Louis Ferrell and Beulah Jenkins Ferrell.

She departed this life in Caruthersville on April 7, 2018. She was 94.

Clovie was a 1942 Caruthersville graduate. After high school, she joined the United States Navy. She received her honorable discharge in Memphis, TN on January 21, 1946. She received the rank of Seaman Second Class.

On December 21, 1946 in Piggott, AR, she was united in marriage to Marion Dunavant. He preceded her in death in 1995.

She worked at Brown Shoe Company as a production control employee.

Clovie loved to read and enjoyed playing solitaire.

She was a member of the First Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Beulah Ferrell, her husband, Marion Dunavant, three sisters including her twin, Dorothy Wilkerson, Nima Hollis, Ruth Speight, two brothers, Pete and Larry Ferrell.

She is survived by her son, Rocky Dunavant (Janice) of Caruthersville, a granddaughter, Beth Ann Pounds (Justin) of Murray, KY, a grandson, Brian Dunavant of Caruthersville, three great-grandchildren, Ava Grace Dunavant, John Ryan Pounds, and Anna Clark Pounds, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services were held on April 9 at 2:00 p.m. with Brother John Earl Dunavant officiating. Interment in Maple Cemetery.
