Leroy Borders departed this life Monday, February 21,2022 at Mark Twain Caring Center in Poplar Bluff, MO.

He was born December 15, 1952, in Hayti, MO, to Gertrude Borders and Wayne Hardy. He was the eldest of the 14 children. He graduated Hayti High School in 1970 and moved to Elkhart, IN, where he attended college. Leroy was employed by the City of Elkhart Street Department until his untimely car accident.

In his spare time, he loved dancing, bowling, traveling, writing and he was a dapper dresser. Leroy was well loved and respected by his family and community. 

Leroy was proceeded in death by his parents; maternal and paternal grandparents; siblings, Gertrude Borders, Marilena Borders and Glen Borders.

He leaves to cherish his memory: Jerry (Cora) Borders, Reecie Borders, Lakwanya Borders, Hayti,MO, Thelma(Brady) Moss, Forney, TX, Keith(Dale) Borders, Betty(Alvin) Flowers, Poplar Bluff, MO, Juan Borders, Elkhart,IN, Lorenzo Borders, Westville, IN, Quenna Borders, Neiwah Borders, Jonesboro, AR, Wayne Hardy, Darlene Hardy, Lansing, MI, Diante Hardy,Ben Harbor, MI.,Fannie Hardy-Tharpe, Plainfield, IL, Gregory Hardy, Josette Hardy, John Hardy, Chicago, IL and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 12 p.m., at the Faith Temple Complex COGIC, with Minister Reginold Ford officiating. Pallbearers were Adrian Watson, Alfredo Warren, and Donald, Freddie, James, Rickey, and Tally Borders. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Hayti, MO.
