JAMES FRANKLIN SMOTHERMAN

James Franklin Smotherman, 81, of Steele passed away Friday, May 18, 2018, in Steele. He was born March 19, 1937, in Senath, Mo., to James Franklin Smotherman and Pauline Kirkman Smotherman. He was united in marriage to Charlene Cherry on Oct. 19, 1985, in Mountain Home, Ark. He was an electrician with Pemiscot Dunklin Electric before his retirement. He was in the Army Reserve and was a graduate of Senath High School.

Mr. Smotherman was preceded in death by his parents, James and Pauline Smotherman.

Survivors of Mr. Smotherman include his wife, Charlene Smotherman, of Steele; seven children, Blake Smotherman and his wife, Chris, of Springfield, Mo., Karen Fullerton of Steele, Cherry Crafton of Steele, James Fullerton of Corpus Christi, Texas, Russell Fullerton and his wife, Pat, of Conway, Ark., Roy Fullerton of Steele, and Will Richardson, and his wife, Stacy, of Houston, Texas; one sister, Dean Ponder of Senath, Mo.; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Smotherman were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 23 at Powell Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby King officiating. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 22.

Powell Funeral Home of Steele was in charge of arrangements.
