MARY ELLEN CRAWFORD

Mary Ellen Crawford, 85, of Steele passed away Monday, April 16, 2018, in Steele. She was born Sept. 19, 1932, in Corinth, Miss., to Ruben Monroe and Evelyn Greer Monroe. She was a homemaker.

Ms. Crawford was preceded in death by her parents, Ruben and Evelyn Monroe; two sons, Dorman Monroe and Cecil Monroe; two daughters, Carolyn Burse and Martha Monroe; four brothers, M.C. Greer, Hubert Monroe, Frank Monroe and Johnny Monroe, and one sister, Jewell Petterson.

Survivors of Ms. Crawford include Marie Bass and Gary of Washington; Shirley Burse of Steele; Ron Monroe of Washington; Lloyd Monroe of Washington; Barbara Reid and Henry of Steele; Terry Morrow of Dexter, Mo.; Laura Morrow of Kennett, Mo.; one brother, Robert Monroe of Washington; 23 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services for Ms. Crawford were held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 20 at Mt. Zion Cemetery with Rev. Jeremy Damesworth officiating. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Powell Funeral Home of Steele was in charge of arrangements.
