EARLINE JONES VICKERS SAYRE

Earline Jones Vickers Sayre was born September 11, 1929 in Rector, Arkansas. She was the daughter of the late George Jones and Essie Tidwell Jones.

She departed this life at the Tennova Healthcare Hospital in Dyersburg, TN on January 14, 2018. She was 88 years old.

Earline was united in marriage to Mr. Earsey Vickers. He preceded her in death. She was then united in marriage to Mr. Carl “Bud” Sayre who also preceded her in death.

Earline was a worker. She was a floor supervisor at Brown Shoe. After that career, she became the owner/operator of the Roundhouse Restaurant. She also was involved in the trucking business with Bud.

She loved life and having fun. She believed that “you have feet to dance”. In addition to dancing, she liked to sing and yodel. Cooking was not just a hobby but a passion. Since she lived across the street from the high school, tailgating was a Friday night tradition. She loved animals and made sure that all of the strays were fed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Essie Jones, a son, Dewayne Vickers, a daughter, Carlene Sayre, and a sister, Ailene Jones.

She is survived by her children, Dennis Vickers of Laughlin, NV, Jeretta Davis, and Butch Henson of Caruthersville, Vickie Carver, and Ray Van of Bragg City, Dana Mora of Rock Dale, TX, Carl E. Sayre and Rosie of Proctor, AR, Patricia Steven of Wichita, KS, Thomas E. Sayre of Milano, TX, a brother, Billy John Jones, 14 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren, other relatives, and many friends.

Funeral services were held January 17, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. in the H.S. Smith Chapel with Rev. Kenny Lee officiating. Interment was in Pemiscot Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Harold Henson, Ray Van Carver, Paul Shaw, Jeremy Harmon, Anthony Fruhling, Charles Davis, and Adam Skyles.
