LINDA GAIL BARNES

Linda Gail Barnes a.k.a. “Pudden” was born July 29, 1957 in Homestown, MO to the late Vernida Barnes and Wesley Calhoun. She was the youngest girl of eight siblings.

Two siblings preceded her in death, Billy Ray Barnes and Harry Alonzo Barnes.

She leaves to cherish her memories five siblings, Johnnie B. Johnson (Willie) and Joyce A. Barnes in Chicago, IL, Melvin Barnes (Betty) in Lansing, MI, Robert L. Barnes (Michele) in Homestown, MO, and Nancy Calhoun in Columbia, MO.

Linda was blessed with two children, Velensia Latimore (Edward) of St. Louis, MO, and Jeffery Bogan (Kimberly) in Caruthersville, MO, eleven grandchildren, Marquan, Taliah, Jayquan,Kenyon, Xayvion, Tayvion, Moriah, Ah’liya, Nevaeh, Ariayah, and Kyson Bogan, eleven nieces, eight nephews, significant other, Will Sanders, and many relatives and friends who dearly love her.

Linda was a child of God who served at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church and Cedar Street Missionary Baptist Church during different times in her life. She is resting comfortably in the arms of our Heavenly Father. She graduated from North Pemiscot High School in 1976. She worked many years as a cook.

Linda enjoyed celebrating life with her family and spending her time watching Family Feud. She truly left an impression on every person she encountered. She loved to laugh, listen to her blues, and give it to you like it was. She was blessed to celebrate 60 years of life, three months before her earthly departure. After surviving cancer, Linda lived her life to the fullest.

Linda transcended to be with the Lord Sunday, November 26, 2017 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO, surrounded by her family.

Pallbearers were Marquan, Alonzo Johnson, Edward Latimore, Will Sanders, Otis Wilson, and Robert Wilson. Honorary pallbearers were Robert Barnes, Melvin Barnes, and Jeffery Bogan.

Funeral services took place Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Homestown, with Reverend Gary Tobar officiating.

The Brimhall Funeral Home of Hayti in charge of services.
