James Douglas White Jr., 65, passed away Monday, Oct. 30, 2017, in Steele. He was born Nov. 27, 1951, in Blytheville, Ark., to the late James Douglas White Sr., and Flossie Lucille Gestring Googe. He was a graduate of the South Pemiscot High School class of 1969. He later earned a master’s degree in education. He was the Director of Pemiscot County Career Technical Center before his retirement. He had worked for South Pemiscot School, New Madrid and Caruthersville School systems and Eureka Schools. He loved coaching, was an avid hunter and loved playing golf.

Mr. White was preceded in death by his parents, James Douglas White Sr., and Flossie Lucille Gestring Googe.

Survivors of Mr. White include his wife, Kristy White of Caruthersville; one son, Doug White and his wife, Christy, of Steele; daughters, Stephanie McGraw and Bobby of Steele, Kristin Morgan and her husband, Nathan, of Paragould, Ark., and Anna Sands and her husband, Ian, of Maumelle, Ark.; two sisters Joyce Ann Gilmore of Snow Hill, Md., and Carol Lynette Viehlak of Sikeston, Mo., and grandchildren, Carleigh Woods, Brycen White, Zachary Pinder, Ridge McGraw, Bryleigh White, Trace McGraw, Kate Morgan, Derrick Morgan and Logan Sands.

Funeral services for Mr. White were held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Todd Holman officiating. Visitation was held from 6 p.m. until the time of the service.

Powell Funeral Home of Steele was in charge of arrangements.
