A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held for B.E. Athletix Friday, Nov. 3. The owners of are Derrick and Natalie Johnson.

“We opened because it was our passion to teach tumble and cheer in this area,” said the Johnsons. “We value cheerleading in all of its capacity and feel that by bringing it to this area, we can help others value cheerleading as well.

“We also wanted to open a fitness facility in this area because health and wellness is also something we take passion in. We wanted to put these two entities together because most parents are super busy taking their kids to ball practices and games, and we thought, ‘why not put the two together to give parents the feeling of being able to care for themselves, as well as meet their children’s needs.”

Derrick is a graduate of University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) with a B.S. in exercise science. Natalie graduated from University of Mississippi (Old Miss) with a bachelor’s of business administration in managerial finance.

“We both cheered at Ole Miss, where we have competed nationally, as well as internationally. Our degrees and our experience combined helped mold our passion for this industry, and we have built what we call ‘our dream job!’”

B.E. Athletix is located at 101 Eagle Lane in Steele. The fitness gym is open 24 hours a day. The hours for tumbling classes are Monday through Friday from 4-8 p.m. Office hours to register are from 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
