Lady Indians come up short against North Pemiscot

The Hayti Lady Indians hosted the North Pemiscot Lady Mustangs in a pair of volleyball matches Monday, Sept. 25. In a tough-fought match, the JV Indians came up short on the scoreboard, but it took North Pemiscot three sets to get the win. The final score was 25-12, 26-24, 25-20. Even though the first set was below par for Hayti, Jah’Niihya Barringer blasted a nice kill at the net.

The second set featured some outstanding play by the Lady Indians, led by aces and kills from Selina Wooden. The set was highlighted by at least four knotted scores: 15, 17, 23 and 24, but Hayti soared ahead for the 25-26 lead with a serve point by Wooden and an ensuing attack error by North Pemiscot. Other Indians to serve up aces were Diamond Hightower and Ashley Farmer, while Barringer and Cloey Phillips had at least two kills apiece.

Despite the continued outstanding play in the third set by Jah’Niihya Barringer, which featured Barringer blocking for kills, Hayti came up short on the scoreboard, 25-20.

In the varsity game, the Lady Indians fell short in two sets, 25-15, 25-10. Leading Hayti in kills were Lacenia Rogers, Sabrina Stelzer and Asia Burden.
