Sept. 13 - At approximately 11:40 p.m., officers made a traffic stop near North Highway J and Meadow Lane. After furthering their investigation, officers arrested a 47 year old male for possession of a controlled substance. The male was processed at the police department and then transported to the Justice Center, where he is currently being held, awaiting the filing of formal charges by the prosecuting attorney’s office.

Sept. 14 - The prosecuting attorney’s office filed charges against Tommy Collins, 47, of Wardell, MO. Collins was charged with possession of a controlled substance with a bond of $2,500 cash or surety.

Sept. 16 - At approximately 8:20 p.m. officers made a traffic stop at North Fourth and East Lee Street. The driver, Tashionea Winters was arrested on two counts of failure to appear, driver failed to secure child under 8 years old in a booster seat. One was issued out of the county, with a cash only bond of $196.74; the other failure to appear was issued out of Kennett with a cash only bond of $100. Winters was processed at the police department and transported to the Justice Center.

Sept. 17 - Officers were called to the Pemiscot Memorial E.R. in reference to a patient causing a disturbance. Upon arrival officers made contact with Kendra Yarbery, 27, of Dyersburg. Officers learned that Yarbery had a warrant for her arrest out of Butler county for peace disturbance. Yarbery was processed and taken to the Justice Center where she is being held on a $1000 bond.

Sept. 17 - At 11:55 a.m. officers responded to a residence grassfire at the 100 Block of East Lincoln Street. Upon arrival officers learned that a 48 year old man of Hayti had unlawfully entered the residence and was bringing property from inside the residence to the yard and setting it on fire. At that time officers attempted to apprehend the subject who had fled to a small wooded area along the railroad tracks at the intersection of West Highway 84.Officers were able to corner and subdue the subject in the wooded area. The suspect was then placed in the passenger front seat of the police cruiser with hands cuffed in the back. The suspect managed to manipulate the hand cuffs from the back to the front. He then locked the officers out of the patrol vehicle and managed to get in the driver’s. At that time the suspect put the vehicle in reverse and fled west bound on Highway 84 towards the Hayti Heights area with officers in pursuit. After a brief high speed pursuit the suspect turned right onto North Martin Luther King drive near the 200 Block where he bailed out and managed to get away from officers. With the assistance of Caruthersville Police Chief Tony Jones, the suspect later turned himself in. He was taken to the Pemiscot Memorial Hospital E.R. where he was treated for minor injuries. He was taken to the Justice Center where he is being held on a 24 hour investigative hold pending the filing of formal charges with the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
