Drug arrests made in Steele

Steele Chief of Police Billy Joe Stanfield reports that on Friday, Sept. 8, Pemiscot County deputies and Steele police conducted a traffic stop on North Walnut Street. Police identified a passenger inside the car as being Daniel Wilbourn, 35, who had an active probation violation warrant for non-support (bond $500). During the course of the stop, officers obtained consent to search the vehicle. During the search, a substantial amount of purported marijuana was located - estimated street value of the suspected methamphetamine was $1,500.

Marcus Spates, 32, of Steele, a passenger in the car was arrested for felony possession of drugs. Steele officer Eric Reno filed charges with the Pemiscot County prosecuting attorney charging Spates with delivery of controlled substance - possession of marijuana - unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia with bond being set at $200,000.

Also on Sept. 8, Steele police and Pemiscot County deputies conducted a consensual search at an apartment at Nobel Estates. During the search, officers located and seized a substantial amount of purported marijuana that was packaged for sale - estimated street value of the suspected marijuana was $800. Officers arrested Shawn Myers, 28, of Steele on felony drug charges. Steele officer Eric Reno filed charges with the Pemiscot County prosecuting attorney, and a warrant was subsequently issued charging Myers with delivery of a controlled substance - possession of a controlled substance - unlawful use of drug paraphernalia with bond set at $100,000.
