Ruby Velma Akers of Memphis, TN, formerly of Hayti, MO died August 31, 2017 in Memphis at the age of 86 years and 25 days.

She was born August 6, 1931 in Corning, AR.

Ruby was of Pentecostal faith and attended the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Hayti. She enjoyed going to church, visiting with people and spreading the news of Jesus Christ. She also enjoyed eating and spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ivy Matiner Raidt, son, Donald Lowry, granddaughter Tammy Faye Lowry, two brothers, and two sisters.

She leaves the following to cherish her memory: children: Void J. Lowry of St. Louis, MO, Marty Lowry of Memphis, Billy and Shirley Lowry of St. Louis, MO, Peggy and Michael Ward of Memphis, Dennis and Barbara Lowry Sr. of Hayti, Elmer and Kathy Lowry Sr. of Arnold, MO, and Cheryl Ann Lowry of Camden, TN, daughter-in-law Sharon Lowry of St. Louis, sister Genevieve and Ollie Becker of St. Louis, 20 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren, a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, and many, many friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Hayti with Rev. Ron Lawson officiating. Burial was in Mounds Park Cemetery in New Madrid. Pallbearers were grandsons: Dennis Lowry, Jr., Void Lowry, Jr., Johnathan Yoho, Sr., Marcus Jackson, Andrew Schotz, Joey and Johnny Raidt. Honorary were Michael Ward Jr. and Matthew Ward.
