Hayti Police Report

Aug. 27 - Officers were requested to respond to the 700 Block of Bell Street in reference to a theft. As a result, officers conducted an investigation that resulted in the arrest of a 30 year old Hayti male for theft of a firearm and possession of stolen property. The subject was processed at the police department and transported to the Justice Center pending the filing of formal state charges through the County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

Aug. 28 - The State Prosecutor’s Office filed formal charges of class D felony stealing of a firearm and class A misdemeanor stealing against Dixie S. Reed Jr. of Hayti. The warrant carries a bond of $50,000 cash only and no contact with the victim. As of this press release Reed remains in the Justice Center in lieu of bond.

Aug. 27 - At approximately 5:00 p.m., officers were notified of an alleged sexual assault which had occurred at a residence in Hayti. At this time officers initiated an investigation into the incident which resulted in charges being filed with the County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

Aug. 28 - The County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office filed formal charges against Ronny Joe Nelson, Jr., of Hayti for 1st degree rape and assault and 2nd degree kidnapping, carrying a cash or surety bond of $200,000.

Aug. 28 - At approximately 4:40 p.m. officers were able to located Ronny J. Nelson, Jr. Nelson was processed at the police department then transported to the Justice Center.

Aug. 28 - At approximately 8:30 p.m. officers responded to the 100 Block of East Monroe in reference to a male subject pointing a gun at another male. After an investigation was conducted, officers were able to locate Tyrone Wilbourn, 33, of Hayti Heights. Wilbourn is being charged with exhibiting a firearm. Wilbourn was processed at the police department and then transported to the Justice Center. Wilbourn is being held on a cash only bond of $336.

Aug. 30 - At approximately 12:00 a.m. officers were dispatched to the 1000 Block of Klinkhardt in reference to a theft. After officers conducted an investigation they were able to arrested Aaron Gawthrop, 18, on a charge of petty larceny. Gawthrop was processed at the police department and then transported to the Justice Center. Gawthrop is being held on a bond of $236.
