Wildcats play against Clarkton

Wednesday, August 30, 2017

In a big varsity volleyball game Tuesday night, Aug. 22, first-year Cooter coach, Erica Richardson, and her varsity Lady Wildcats rallied for the win after coming up short in the match’s first set. The set started out competitive with a knotted score at 7-7. The Lady ‘Cats then exploded for a flurry of points to make the score 11-7 and then 18-13.

However, the Clarkton Lady Reindeer had no intentions of going away quietly, working their way back to a 21-21 tie. Clarkton would go on to win the set, 25-23. Not willing to settle, Cooter entered the second frame with winning on their agenda. Behind some nifty serving of Brooke Cameron and Kennedy Howard, Cooter won the second set, handily, 25-13.

The third set was nip and tuck, knotted up at 12 at one point, until the Lady Wildcats stepped up their play and cruised to a 25-19 third-set win, giving Cooter the match victory.

The junior varsity squad, despite several bright spots, lost in straight sets to Clarkton, 25-20, 25-13.
