BEULAH MAE STEWART

Wednesday, August 30, 2017

Beulah Mae Stewart was born January 8, 1927 in Senath, Missouri. She was the daughter of Ray D. Jordan and Opal E. Cook Jordan.

She departed this life in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on August 18, 2017. She was 90 years old.

Beulah was born and raised on a farm in rural Senath. She was the first-born of a very close knit family of six siblings. One sibling, Gerald, died as an infant. Then there was Virginia (Nina), Gladys (Hap), Cleadus (Clete), Sue and Janice (Janny or Sis).

Beulah married Otis Jefferson Davis on October 29, 1942 in Piggott, Arkansas when she was only 15 and had her first child, a boy Larry Ray Davis, at 16. Her husband went off to war when she was 17. After the war, a second son, Rickey Lee Davis, was born.

In 1954, the family moved to Caruthersville where Beulah remained for the rest of her life. She had many jobs including working as a grocery clerk at Adair’s IGA, Big Star and other stores. She was also a teacher’s aide and administrative assistant. Later she was the RSVP Transportation Coordinator. To “Miss Beulah” the best part of every job she had was interacting with people.

Beulah was married to Charles “Charlie” Stewart for 20 years. He preceded her in death on October 16, 2013.

She was a very loyal and faithful member of the First Baptist Church where she accepted Christ as her savior and was baptized.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Opal Jordan, her husband, Charles Stewart, a son, Ricky Davis, two brothers, Gerald and Cleadus Jordan, and two sisters, Virginia and Gladys.

She is survived by one son, Larry (Beverly) Davis of Sugar Land, TX, a sister, Janice (Mike) Greer, of Paragould, AR, a daughter-in-law, Ginger Coppage Davis, of Caruthersville, three grandsons, Scott, Chris, and Nelson Davis, two great-grandchildren, Noah and Cody Davis, and many other nieces, nephews, and supported friends who were like her extended family.
