The Cooter City Council met in regular session June 20 to discuss several items including the old jail building. Alderman Jerry McClure has looked into getting the old jail building on the historical records. The matter of cleaning around the jail was brought to the attention of the council. It was noted that several tree limbs will have to trimmed, and a lot of clean up will have to be done in order to send in the pictures that will have to be sent to the state. After much discussion, the council agreed to table the item until the fall.

Mayor Jerry Rushing Sr., told the council that Northcutt Trucking had been taking care of the street grading as needed for $200. Recently, the company has taken on more streets and is asking to be paid $250 a time. A motion was approved for the pay increase.

A discussion on the meter reader was tabled until the July meeting.

Alderman Gary Robinson stated that Steele had purchased new Christmas decorations and were willing to donate the old lights to Cooter. He said he would check with Ameren Missouri to find out what was needed in order to put the lights up. He also thanked the city of Steele.

Mayor Rushing reported that several street signs were missing, and there would be a list of those missing at the next meeting.

The Cooter City Council meets at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of every month.
