P.M.H.S. welcomes new administrator

James L. (Jim) Marshall Jr. of Hartsville, Tennessee has been named the new Administrator of Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems. He assumed his duties on August 1st.

Marshall is a Masters-prepared health care executive with 15 years experience as a hospital CEO, six years as a regional operations executive with seven hospitals, and over 25 years of experience in healthcare operations.

He received his Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning, and his Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Construction from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Hartsville, located in Middle Tennessee in Trousdale County, Tennessee, only has a population of about 2,400. Marshall said he likes a rural setting and has moved to Pemiscot County.

Marshall has two grown sons, Trey and Josh, and two grandchildren, Rachel, 10 and Gavin, 7. He is married to Betty Lou Taylor a successful attorney in Hartsville and will maintain her practice there.

As a former Rotarian, Marshall said he plans to join the Rotary here in Pemiscot County. He is a devout Christian and an avid golfer. He said his health is excellent and he looks forward to utilizing the Diane Sayre Recreation Center.

Marshall is looking forward to working with the hospital staff, board and the community in making PMHS a successful healthcare provider, investigating and squelching any rumors he hears about the quality of care, and marketing PMHS as a place all of Pemiscot County and the surrounding area will want to come for their healthcare needs.
