Cooter Public Schools to open Aug. 17

Wednesday, August 9, 2017

Cooter Public Schools will begin class Thursday, Aug. 17 and will be in session all day. Buses will run at their regular times, and lunch will be served.

Registration for new students will be Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 14, 15 and 16. New students in grades kindergarten through 6 should go to the elementary principal’s office, and students in grades 7-12 should go to the high school principal’s office. A birth certificate or proof of age, immunization records and social security number will be required for each student. Proof of residency will also be necessary. A telephone, gas or electric bill in the parent/guardian’s name will help satisfy this requirement. A home visit will be conducted by school officials to further establish residency.

Faculty work days for Cooter teachers will be Aug. 14-16.

The lunchroom will be open Thursday, Aug. 17, and the costs will be $1 for students and $1.50 for adults. Free and reduced lunch forms will be sent home with each student. These forms should be returned as soon as possible. Parents are encouraged to take advantage of this program.

This school will offer a low cost student accident policy for all students. Students attending Pemiscot County Vocational/Technical School, all cheerleaders, volleyball, basketball, baseball and softball players will be required to purchase this policy.

Each student will be issued a complete set of books. There will be no books fees. Students will be required to pay for any/all abused, destroyed or lost books.

Students will be responsible for any/all debts they make during the school year.

Each student will be assigned a locker at the beginning of the school year.
