WAYNE ALLEN LEE

Wayne Allen Lee was born January 20, 1925 in Hathaway, Tennessee. He was the son of Alf Lee and Rosetta Pruiett Lee.

He departed this life in Nashville, Tennessee on July 10, 2017. He was 92 years old.

Wayne proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1945 until 1947.

On January 20, 1951 he was united in marriage to Sue Young. She preceded him in death on July 4, 2017.

He worked for the United States Corp of Engineers for many years. He was the last lamp lighter on the Mississippi River. After working for the Corp, he then went to work for Pemiscot County Road Maintenance as an engineer.

Wayne loved the Mississippi River and was known by many for his fishing skills on it. After catching the fish, he would then have wonderful fish fries that were enjoyed by many.

He is survived by one son, Lynn Lee of Caruthersville, one daughter, Nicki Sumner and her husband, Danny of Nashville, TN, one grandson, Paul Sumner, many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a sister, Lavenna Pritchett and a brother, Robert Lee.

Funeral services were held July 11, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. in the H.S. Smith Chapel with Rev. Kenny Lee officiating. Interment followed in Little Prairie Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Charles Davis, Earl Bullington, Danny Sumner and Paul Sumner.
