Patsy “Gaye” Suddarth

Patsy “Gaye” Suddarth, 81, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017, at her daughter’s home in Metropolis, Ill. She was born Jan. 30, 1936, in Braggadocio, Mo, to Ode and Ruby Scott. She was united in marriage to Carl C. Suddarth on Aug. 17, 1958, and the couple had one daughter together, Karla. She graduated from Southeast Missouri University in Cape Girardeau, Mo., with a degree in education. She taught school at Concord and Hayti R-2, was a substitute teacher and also taught GED classes. She was a passionate, patient and supportive teacher who imparted her love and wisdom to many students. She enjoyed reading, large family dinners and going to the casino. She was baptized as a youth. She cherished her family and was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.

Mrs. Suddarth was preceded in death by her parents, Ode and Ruby Scott; husband, Carl C. Suddarth; siblings, Faye Cook Alexander, Levon (Bud) Scott, Dixie Scott and Leval Scott, and several nieces and nephews she adored and loved dearly.

Survivors of Mrs. Suddarth include her daughter and son-in-law, Karla and Joe Boyd of Metropolis, Ill.; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Courtney and Larry Wyatt; great-grandson, Mason; great-granddaughter, Josey; siblings, Zola Scott of Blytheville, Ark., Joe and Sandy Scott of Russellville, Ala., Julia Robinson of Grand Terrace, Calif., June Robichaud of Columbia, S.C., and Leon (Scotty) Scott of Jupiter, Fla., and sister-in-law, Freda Scott.
