Riot leads to several agencies called in

On Sunday, June 11, Caruthersville Officers responded to a large fight in progress located in the Gayoso Federal Housing Complex. Upon arrival, officers observed a group consisting of both juvenile and adult males fighting. As officers attempted to separate the group, they were assaulted from behind by another large group of approximately 30 plus subjects consisting of both juvenile and adult males. After the arrival of additional agencies: the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Pemiscot County Sheriff’s Office, and Hayti Police Department, officers were able to gain control of the scene. Officers then identified and arrested several of the suspects at the scene. Results of the arrest are as follows:

Caruthersville officers arrested a 17 year old male of Caruthersville on the charges of Rioting, Refusal to Disperse, Resisting/Interfering with an Arrest for a Felony, and 1st Degree Assault on Law Enforcement Officers. Suspect was transported to the Justice Center where he is being held pending the filing of formal charges through the Pemiscot County Prosecutor’s Office.

Caruthersville Officers arrested a 18 year old male of Caruthersville on the charges of Rioting, Refusal to Disperse, Resisting/Interfering with an Arrest for a Felony, and 1st Degree Assault on Law Enforcement Officers. The suspect was transported to the Justice Center where he is being held pending the filing of formal charges through the Pemiscot County Prosecutor’s Office.

Caruthersville Officers arrested a 31 year old female of Caruthersville on the charge of Assault on Emergency Personnel. Suspect was transported to the Justice Center where he is being held pending the filing of formal charges through the Pemiscot County Prosecutor’s Office.

Caruthersville Officers arrested a 15 year old male juvenile of Caruthersville on the charges of Rioting, Refusal to Disperse, Resisting/Interfering with an Arrest for a Felony, 1st Degree Assault on Law Enforcement Officers, and Escape from Custody. Suspect was transported to the Caruthersville Police Department and was turned over to Pemiscot County Juvenile Authorities. The suspect was then transported to the Bloomfield Juvenile Detention Center.

Caruthersville Officers arrested a 16 year old male juvenile of Poplar Bluff on the charge of Willfully Opposing a Police Officer. The suspect was transported to the Caruthersville Police Department where he was turned over to Pemiscot County Juvenile Authorities and later released to a guardian.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing with further arrest expected.
