Jerry Warren Rice Sr.

Jerry Warren Rice Sr., 70, of Memphis, Tenn., passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017, in Memphis. He was born July 9, 1946, in Blytheville, Ark., to the late Elmer Rice and Pauline Griggs Cannon. He worked for many years as a salesman and route supervisor for Wonder Bread, Colonial Bread and Midwest Farms.

Mr. Rice was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Rice and Pauline Griggs Cannon, and one sister.

Survivors of Mr. Rice include three children, Diane Frazier of Memphis, Tenn., Kathy Robinson of Holland, Mo., and Jerry Rice Jr., of Marion, Ark.; one brother, Sherman Griggs of Trenton, Tenn.; two sisters, Brenda Floyd of Caruthersville, Mo., and Elizabeth Hankins of Knoxville, Tenn., and four grandchildren, Austin and Alex Rice and Sheyanne and Aleigha Robinson.

Funeral services for Mr. Rice were held at 12 p.m. Friday, May 12 at Powell Funeral Home with Rev. Dave Lewelling officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Pallbearers were Lance O’Brian, Jerry Rice Jr., Johnny Gustavus, Bobby Nash, Bill Allison and Austin Rice.

Powell Funeral Home of Steele was in charge of arrangements.
