According to Chief Ronnie Adams, on May 6, 2017 at approximately 8:20 pm, Portageville officers received a call from Sonic Drive Inn in reference to counterfeit money. Officers obtained a suspect and vehicle description.

During a search of the area, officers located the suspect vehicle at a car wash on U.S. Highway 61. Officers made contact with a white female driver and white male passenger. During the course of the investigation, officers searched the occupants and vehicle. The search revealed the occupants to be in possession of counterfeit money and items used in the manufacturing of counterfeit money.

The MoSHP Division of Drug and Crime Control and the Pemiscot County Sheriff's Dept. was contacted to assist in the investigation. During the interview of the suspects, investigators learned the suspects allegedly passed counterfeit money at several locations in Pemiscot County.

Formal charges were filed by the New Madrid County Prosecuting Attorney Andrew Lawson on 40 year old Corey Partin of Portageville and 50 year old Carla Wagoner of Steele for Forgery Class D Felony. Both Partin and Wagoner are being held in the Pemiscot County Jail on a $15,000 bond.

Chief Ronnie Adams would like to thank the MoSHP and the Pemiscot County Sheriff's Dept. with their assistance in the investigation.
