South Pemiscot school board meets

Wednesday, May 17, 2017

The South Pemiscot R-V Board of Education met in regular session Thursday, May 11 to discuss a number of items. Superintendent Chris Moore reported to the board that Chris Thomas of Thomas Photography notified high school principal Glenn Carter he will no longer be able to take extracurricular pictures after this year.

Next, the board discussed lawn care proposals. Mr. Moore said, “South Pemiscot received two proposals for lawn care and spraying for the front of each campus. We also received quotes for dirt and leveling.” The two lawn care services were Drew Bevill Lawn Care and Riggs Lawn and Landscape. After much discussion, the board passed a motion to hire Drew Bevell Lawn Care to care for the schools’ lawns.

Mr. Moore also told board members he has requested bids be made for asphalt projects to be done in the summer.

In the superintendent’s report, Mr. Moore notified the board that the senior sidewalk had been completed. He also said he was hoping to get some repairs done on all three schools, as well as to the high school baseball field. Baseball coach Jason House has requested that the fence on the field be repaired or replaced. After discussing, the board decided to replace the fence using Casey Greene of EK Excavating & Construction Co. Mr. Moore also reported that the state had approved the budget for the 2017-2018 school year.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the South Pemiscot R-V Board of Education is at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 8.
