JUANITA LAVALL NORRID

Juanita Lavall Norrid, 94, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2017. She was born Dec. 28, 1922, in Morehouse, Mo., to the late Harvey M. and Sarah McCubbin Lavall. She was married to Warren S. Norrid Sr. She worked for the Railway Express at Union Station and the main post office in St. Louis, when she and Warren were first married. She became a stay-at-home mom and housewife when the children came along. After the family was older, she worked at Lenox Plastics. She won blue ribbons for her biscuits and pickled beets. Her biscuits were requested for school parties instead of the traditional cupcakes. She enjoyed canning and sharing with family, friends and neighbors. Her fried okra, beans, cornbread and, especially, her pies were the best. It seemed like she made each and every one of her children the pie of their choice during holidays. She enjoyed her family. She is fondly remembered and will be dearly missed by those who knew her.

Mrs. Norrid was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey M. and Sarah McCubbin Lavall; loving husband, Warren S. Norrid Sr.; one son, Larry Norrid (Pat); one grandchild, Melissa Norrid, and her siblings.

Survivors of Mrs. Norrid include six children, Warren S. Norrid Jr., (Kay), Betty (Don Quirk), Jim Norrid (Rose Mary), Evan Norrid (Bonnie), Danny Norrid (Karen) and Brian Norrid; 11 grandchildren, Bradley and Jason Norrid, Angela Bosch and Stephen Quirk, Matthew Norrid, Amber Sheppard and Heather Morrell, Jacob and Travis Norrid and Hanna and Kara Norrid; 21 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Charlotte Norrid and Ruth Lavall, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Norrid were held Thursday, April 20 at John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Steele with Bro. John Dunavant officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jacob Norrid, Travis Norrid, Matthew Norrid, Steve Shephard, Jim Norrid and Danny Norrid.

John W. German Funeral Home of Steele was in charge of arrangements.
