She was born September 15, 1922 at Braggadocio, Missouri to Pearl David and Rose Ella Pleasant.

She attended school at Swift, MO. In her 7th grad year, the superintendent gave her a test and moved her up to the 9th grade, which made her brother James mad, because that was the grade he was in. Not sure he ever forgave her. She then attended high school at Wardell, MO, graduating in 1937. In 1941 she married B.F. Brogdon and moved to Hayti, MO. She joined the Hayti United Methodist Church in 1943 and become a member of the UMW.

Genevieve and B.F. had three sons, James Edward, Jerry Franklin, and Terry Eugene Brogdon. In 1944 B.F. went to Germany to fight in W.W. II. Then, Genevieve went to Benton Harbor, MI to help make ammunition for the war. She returned to Hayti and worked at I.G.A., and Hays stores. In 1959 she went to work at the Garment Factory, retiring in 1979 receiving her 20 year pin.

She belonged to the R.S.V.P., always helping someone, sending cards, flowers, food, and just being there for people. She helped just about everybody in Hayti at one time or the other. She was loved by many, both family and friends. She was a member of the Harbert Rebekah Lodge #800 filling all chairs and receiving several medals.

She was preceded in death by her parents and son James Edward Brogdon, four brothers, and two sisters.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Jerry and wife Julie Brogdon of Cairo, MO and Terry and Debbie Brogdon of Clinton, TN, 13 grandchildren, David and wife Crystal Brogdon, Monica and husband Brian Jean, Matt and wife Maria Brogdon, Nikki Brogdon, Lisa Angler, Kari and husband Rodney, Boone, Raine and husband Adam, five adopted grandchildren, Amy and husband Johnathan, Pam and husband Jeremy, and Courtney, 19 great-grandchildren and 4 adopted great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
